SECRET PLACES IN FOUR QUARTETS
In this series of THE ESSAY for BBC Radio 3, poet and critic Craig Raine visits some key locations which inspired T S Eliot's masterpiece FOUR QUARTETS. The video shows the "dry pool" and the rose garden referred to in Burnt Norton, and shows how Eliot changed the character of his sources for the sake of the poem.

Ralph Fiennes was the reader.

The programmes went out on Radio 3 on four consecutive evenings from August 31st at 11pm.
